- Last Friday’s South Florida/West Virginia game set a ratings record; the Bulls’ upset victory over the Mountaineers was the second-highest rated and most watched college football game in ESPN2 history. The game drew a 2.7 rating, the largest rating ever for a Friday night college football game on ESPN or ESPN2.
- Sunday Night Football was no match for the ladies of Wisteria Lane on Sunday. The season premiere of Desperate Housewives trounced the competing Giants/Eagles game by more than four million viewers. Housewives also drew a 7.5/17 among adults 18-49, 21% higher than the 6.2/16 SNF drew in the demo.
- ESPNews and The Golf Channel saw big increases in television ratings during the third quarter (July – September), as both networks averaged a 0.2 rating — up 100% from 2006. Among other sports networks, ESPN Classic saw a 50% decline in its third quarter ratings, falling to a 0.1 average, while ESPN was flat, with a 1.7 average rating.
