Even for the NFL, this is impressive.
Sunday afternoon’s Cowboys/Washington contest on FOX drew a 17.0/32 overnight rating, the fourth highest overnight of the season. This marks the third straight week, and fourth time this season, that an NFL telecast has drawn an overnight rating of 17 or higher. Last week’s Cowboys/Giants game drew a 17.1 overnight, and the Patriots/Colts game two weeks ago drew a 22.5. In October, a game between the Patriots and Cowboys drew an 18.5.
FOX drew 20.7 million viewers from 7 to 7:30 PM on Sunday, making that portion of the game the most watched event in primetime for the night. The network won the night among adults 18-49, led by Cowboys/Washington, which drew an 8.1 in the demo.
So far this season, the New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys have played in eight of the ten highest rated NFL telecasts.
