ESPN suffered a double-digit decline in ratings and viewership for Monday’s Rams/Giants game.
The Week 2 edition of Monday Night Football earned a 7.8 U.S. rating and 11.922 million viewers on ESPN, down 17% in ratings and 21% in viewership from last year (NO/SF: 9.4, 15.120M), and down 17% and 19%, respectively, from 2009 (IND/MIA: 9.4, 14.710M).
This marks the lowest rated edition of Monday Night Football since Week 14 last year (BAL/HOU: 7.7), and the least-viewed since Week 12 last year (SF/ARI: 11.202M).
So far this season, all three Monday Night Football telecasts have been down in ratings and viewership compared to last year.
Keep in mind Monday’s telecast faced some strong competition in the form of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars (12.3, 19.030M) and CBS’ Two and a Half Men (16.7, 28.743M).
