The New England Patriots’ quest for perfection has given CBS nearly perfect ratings.
Patriots/Steelers last Sunday drew an 18.4/32 rating on CBS, the second highest rating of the season for an NFL game, behind only Patriots/Colts in November. The 18.4 final rating, which matches the overnight for the game, marks a 46% increase over the 12.6 rating for Broncos/Chargers in ’06.
So far this season, CBS has aired three NFL games that have drawn final national ratings of 18 or higher, and all three games involved New England. Thanks in part to the Patriots, CBS is the only NFL rights partner to see its ratings increase from last year. Through last Sunday, CBS is averaging a 10.6/22 rating for its NFL telecasts, up 7% from last year, and “the highest season-to-date average” for CBS since the network returned to the NFL in 1998.
