Game 4 of the 2011 World Series brought both good news and bad news to FOX Sunday night.
The Rangers’ series-tying Game 4 win over the Cardinals earned a 10.1 overnight on FOX, down 3% from last year (SF/TEX: 10.4), and down 35% from 2009 (NYY/PHI: 15.6).
The 10.1 overnight is the lowest ever for a Sunday night World Series game, and the lowest ever for a Game 4 of the World Series. The previous lows were set by last year’s Game 4.
Though low historically, Sunday’s game drew a higher overnight than Game 1 (9.6) and Game 2 (10.0). Overnights for Saturday’s Game 3 were not available.
In a reversal from last year, Game 4 easily topped Sunday’s concurrent Colts/Saints NFL game on NBC (8.2). The winless Colts, still without QB Peyton Manning, lost by 55 points.
Last year, Game 4 of the World Series was outdrawn by a Steelers/Saints game on NBC (11.8).
