After a brief reprieve, NASCAR overnights resumed their downward trajectory.
NASCAR Sprint Cup racing from Dover earned a 2.2 overnight rating on Fox Sports 1 Sunday afternoon, down a tick from last year (2.3) and down a third from 2014 on the FOX broadcast network (3.3). The 2.2 is the lowest for the race in at least a decade, falling below last year.
Sunday’s race was the first in three weeks to post a decline in the metered markets. Kansas increased 20% the previous week and Talladega pulled even two weeks ago.
For the season, it was the eighth of 10 races to have a year-over-year drop — not counting Bristol or Richmond, which were rained out a year ago — and the seventh to set or tie a multi-year low.
