The NFL singleheader window posted good numbers despite a slight decline on CBS. In other news, NASCAR’s Kansas race hit a broadcast network low, and USC/Arizona barely registered in the ratings on FOX.
NFL Singleheader Dips, But Still Good, on CBS
- The Week 6 NFL singleheader window earned an 11.2 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, down a tick from last year on FOX (11.3) but up 6% from 2014 on CBS (10.6). The 11.2 is the highest for the singleheader on CBS this season (three telecasts) and the second-highest overnight of Week 6 — behind only the NFL national window on FOX (17.4). This is the second straight week the singleheader has topped Sunday Night Football.
NASCAR Kansas Overnights Hit Broadcast Network Low
- NASCAR Sprint Cup racing from Kansas, the fifth race in the Chase For the Cup, scored a 2.0 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon — down 9% from last year (2.2) and even with 2014 on ESPN. Excluding rainouts, the 2.0 is the lowest for a Sprint Cup race on broadcast television since at least 2004 (and likely further back).
USC/Arizona Plumbs the Depths on FOX
- Saturday’s USC/Arizona college football game netted a mere 0.7 overnight rating on FOX, down 53% from West Virginia/Baylor last year, which aired in an earlier timeslot (1.5). The 0.7 was easily the lowest of the weekend for college football on a broadcast network.
