The Golden State Warriors upset of the Dallas Mavericks helped TNT to its most watched first round NBA playoff game ever.
The deciding Game 6 of the series drew a 3.4 national rating, the highest yet of the postseason to that point, and a 4.0 cable rating. The game attracted a record 3.8 million households, higher than the 3.7 million that tuned into the previous record holder — Game 6 of last year’s Phoenix Suns/Los Angeles Lakers series.
TNT’s coverage of the first round of the playoffs finished with a 2.3 cable rating (the equivalent of a 1.9 national rating), down 4% from last year (2.4). TNT also finished with 53,000 fewer average households than last year (from 2,146 million in ’06 to 2,093 million in ’07).
