As someone who has not caught an episode of Mike and Mike in the Morning lately, I was slightly surprised by this press release by ESPN this morning: “ESPN Radio Takes Yankee vs. Sox to New Level”.
According to the release, Mike Greenberg will milk a cow named “Sox” during the Mike and Mike show next week. Exactly why a press release was needed for this is a mystery; maybe the brass at ESPN wanted to take their minds off of the depressing NBA Finals ratings. In fact, the cow milking will take place on the night that would have seen Game 7 of the Finals.
Mike & Mike in the Morning co-hosts Greenberg and Mike Golic traditionally match their NCAA Men?s Basketball Tournament brackets, with the loser?s fate pre-determined by a listener/viewer vote.
When Golic?s ?sheet of integrity? prevailed this April, Greenberg was put in an utterly precarious position of having to milk a cow. ?If milk is the only thing that comes out of that cow, I will consider it a huge win,? Greenberg says.”
Great. But perhaps the best part of the press release was this:
“WHERE/WHEN TO HEAR/WATCH GREENBERG MILKING A COW
Mike & Mike in the Morning can be seen/heard daily (catch the cow milking!) on:
ESPN Radio: 6-10 a.m. live
ESPN2 HD: 6-10 a.m. live
ESPN2: 6-10 a.m. live
ESPN HD: 2:30 p.m. Best Of
ESPN: 2:30 p.m. Best Of
ESPNRadio.com: streaming video live; photos following the milking”
That’s right. Coverage of Greenie milking a cow across six ESPN platforms. MLS could only wish for this kind of treatment.
