WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy and his son Daniel were found dead today in their Atlanta-area home. Benoit was 40 years old.
In a tragically ironic twist, tonights edition of Monday Night Raw was originally scheduled to be a three-hour memorial to Vince McMahon, who’s death was staged as part of a much-publicized WWE storyline. That storyline, at least for the time being, appears to have been scrapped. The three-hour broadcast window that was to be devoted to the fake death of McMahon has instead been devoted to a remembrance of Benoit.
According to AOL Fanhouse blogger Michael David Smith, McMahon had to appear on Raw to explain that the death of Benoit was real, as several fans had “expressed ‘yeah, right’ skepticism” upon originally hearing the news.
