Major League Baseball may want to reconsider airing games opposite college football.
Regional action last Saturday on FOX drew a 1.2 rating, including just a 0.6 rating among Men 18-49, likely the lowest rating ever for an MLB telecast on network television. The 0.6 rating among Men 18-49 tied MLB on FOX with the IRL season finale on ABC the next day.
The 1.2 rating made baseball on FOX the lowest rated live sporting event on network television Saturday. In the two weeks since the start of the college football season, MLB on FOX is averaging a 1.3 rating, slightly above the 1.2 rating the NBA on ABC averaged for two games opposite the NCAA Tournament.
Through 23 of 26 telecasts, MLB on FOX is averaging a 2.3 rating. Since June 30, the week before the All Star Break, that average has slipped to 2.1.
