The opening game of the NFL season was down in the ratings, though only slightly. The 13.0/21 overnight for the Colts’ blowout victory over the Saints was off 4% from a 13.5/22 for the 2006 opener. The 13.0 is the largest overnight for a sporting event since the NCAA Men’s National Championship game drew a 13.6 in April.
The 13.0 is also higher than the overnight for every NBA Finals and World Series game in the past two years.
The game averaged 16.7 million viewers from 9:00 to 11:00 last night, with a 6.4/19 among adults 18-49.
