The Cowboys and Giants may not be the Patriots and Colts, but FOX is still pleased.
Sunday’s contest between Dallas and New York drew a 17.1 overnight on FOX, up 15% from the comparable game last season, and the third highest overnight for a regular season NFL game this season. The 17.1 makes Cowboys/Giants the highest rated NFL game on FOX so far this season.
While the 17.1 is a very strong rating, it does pale in comparison to last week’s Patriots/Colts game (down 24%) and even the lone Cowboys/Giants game on FOX last year (down 10%). Additionally, the game did not help FOX much in prime-time. While the network won the 7:00 PM hour with the end of the game and The OT, FOX finished fourth for the night overall behind CBS, ABC and NBC.
So far this season, the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots have been involved in all five of the highest rated NFL games.
