Evidently, Disney thinks viewers cannot get enough Mike Greenberg.
Greenberg, SportsCenter anchor and co-host of the ESPN morning show Mike and Mike in the Morning, will host a new game show on ABC this December. The show, Duel, will air every night for a week, starting Monday, December 17, and is a mixture of “the trivia challenges like those on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire with the high-stakes strategy played in the World Series of Poker.”
Greenberg is not the first ESPN personality to switch to ABC entertainment fare. Stuart Scott has made several appearances on ABC entertainment programs, including hosting a David Blaine special and a sports-related episode of America’s Funniest Home Videos.
Additionally, this is far from the first time ESPN has attempted to extend the Mike and Mike brand into other contexts. Greenberg and his partner, Mike Golic, were the lead broadcast team for Arena Football League games on ESPN/ABC last year, and the duo also hosted an ESPN celebrity bowling show two years ago.
