- The Washington Times reports that the NBA, in the process of working on an agreement that would shift the management of NBA TV and NBA.com to Turner Sports, is “seeking distribution on Time Warner’s digital tier.” Such an arrangement has the potential to “place pressure on other major cable operators to begin carrying the channel on a more widely distributed tier.”
- In an agreement with FOX Sports Net, ESPN has acquired the rights to a key Pac-10 football game this Saturday. The battle between undefeated #4 Arizona State and #5 Oregon will air on ESPN at 6:45 on Saturday; originally, the game was slated to air on local television only.
- The NLCS may have been a bust — the deciding Game 4 was #12 on cable during the week it aired, behind episodes of Hannah Montana and Spongebob Squarepants — but TBS got a big boost from baseball in October. The network tied with ESPN as the highest rated cable network in prime-time during the month.
