For once, going down the NHL’s path is a good thing.
The Phoenix Suns have an agreement in principle to play an outdoor game at the Indian Wells tennis garden next season, reports The Desert Sun. The game would take place during the preseason, and would be the first ever outdoor game in NBA history.
Depending on the success of the event, the game could be the first of many at Indian Wells. Already, plans are for the game to be an All-Star Weekend type event, as “the Coachella Valley Recreation and Park District is working with the Suns and the tennis garden to organize a full weekend of events geared toward local kids and the community.”
According to the article, Suns general manager Steve Kerr is attempting to get the game on national television.
