- FOX: Ratings for college and pro football fell across the board on FOX over the weekend. Giants/Bears drew a 15.4 rating in the late afternoon national window on FOX, down 19% from a 19.1 rating for Giants/Cowboys last year. Meanwhile, regional NFL coverage in the early afternoon window drew an 8.5 rating, down 18% from last year.
- Coverage of the BCS Selection Show on FOX was also down by double-digits; the 8.3 rating for the show was off 12% from a 9.4 last year. The show lost 31% of its lead-in from The OT, compared to losing only 10% of its lead-in last year.
- CBS: Just as in so many weeks during the football season, the SEC and AFC were very good to CBS. The SEC Championship Game on Saturday afternoon drew a 6.0 rating, up 28% from last year, and the highest overnight for that event since 2001. The traditionally Army/Navy game did not have as much luck in the ratings, as the 2.4 overnight for that rivalry was off 8% from last year.
- Meanwhile, the NFL gave CBS a huge jump on Sunday; the 12.5 overnight for regional coverage in the 1:00 PM window was up 30% from a 9.6 rating last year.
- ABC: A Saturday tripleheader of college football action gave ABC decent numbers on Saturday. The ACC Championship game led off with a 4.2 rating, up slightly from last year. USC/UCLA saw a huge drop in ratings from ’06, when the game featured #2 USC being upset. The 3.8 overnight for the game marks a 54% drop from an 8.2 last year.
- For all the viewers USC/UCLA lost, the Big 12 Championship game gained them — and then some. The 7.3 overnight for Oklahoma’s victory over Missouri marks a 74% jump over a 4.2 rating last year. The 7.3 is also the highest overnight for a college football game this season.
- NBC: A less than inspiring Sunday Night Football match-up gave NBC a mediocre rating. The battle between the underachieving Cincinnati Bengals and the Pittsburgh Steelers drew a 10.5 rating, down 4% from a 10.9 for Seahawks/Broncos in ’06.
