The other side of the Roger Clemens controversy may get airtime on 60 Minutes next week.
Via TV Newser comes the rumor that former Yankee trainer Brian McNamee is
“expected to sit down with Mike Wallace sometime during the next 72 hours for a ‘rebuttal’ interview that would air on this Sunday’s edition of ’60 Minutes’.”
The rebuttal interview would come one week after Clemens engaged in an heated interview with 60 Minutes correspondent Mike Wallace. Clemens vehemently denied ever using steroids during the interview, saying among other things that if he were being injected as often as was suggested in the Mitchell Report, “I should have a third ear coming out of my forehead. I should be pulling tractors with my teeth.”
In December, Clemens was accused in the Mitchell Report of performance enhancing drug use, based on statements by McNamee. In recent weeks, Clemens has been attempting to deny the allegations, and after the 60 Minutes interview, Clemens sued McNamee for defamation.
The potential McNamee 60 Minutes interview would take place two days before both he and Clemens are scheduled to appear in front of Congress.
