- A 6:00 AM start could not stop Bostonians from watching their beloved Red Sox. The Sox’ season opener in Japan drew an 8.9 rating with a staggering 30 share on NESN Tuesday. Big ratings are nothing new for the Red Sox; games on NESN averaged a 12.2 rating last year. By comparison, Celtics games on Comcast Sports New England are averaging 3.5 this season.
- After a season of increasing ratings, the positive momentum has continued for women’s college basketball. Through the first two rounds, ratings for the Women’s NCAA Tournament are up 20% on ESPN2 and 25% on ESPN. The increases are even higher among household viewership; ESPN2 is up 29%, while ESPN is up 40%.
- Arena Football continues to do well on ESPN2. Through four telecasts, ESPN2 has seen a 40% jump in household audience and a 45% jump in total viewers. Among men 18-34, the AFL is averaging 82,000 viewers, up 24% from ’07.
