- According to Kukla’s Korner media writer Steve LePore, the Wall Street Journal was incorrect when it reported that NBC will only broadcast Games 4, 5 and 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals next season. LePore reports that NBC will continue airing Games 3-7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
- The reassignment of ESPN NBA reporter Ric Bucher from Rockets/Jazz Game 4 tomorrow to Celtics/Hawks Game 3 “had nothing to do with” Bucher’s recent remarks concerning Mormons and Jazz fans, according to ESPN spokesman Nate Smeltz.
- NFL fans can look forward to a “streamlined“, “simplified” NFL Draft presentation tomorrow. Thanks to the NFL shrinking the time in between picks, the draft will move faster than in previous years — leaving ESPN’s talking heads without as much time to pontificate. ESPN producer Jay Rothman says the network’s coverage will be “scaled down by design“, and that “[w]e won?t ping-pong among so many sets.” This streamlined version of the draft will still feature a laundry list of personalities: Chris Berman, Keyshawn Johnson, Mel Kiper Jr., Steve Young, Chris Mortensen, Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski, Kirk Herbstreit and Suzy Kolber will each be on-site in some capacity.
