- Game 6 of the NBA Finals drew a series high 34.5 rating in Boston, making it the only game in the series to draw over a 30 rating locally. By comparison, the clinching game of last year’s Red Sox/Rockies World Series drew a 55.3 rating, and the Patriots/Giants Super Bowl drew a 55.6. In Los Angeles, Game 6 drew a 25.9 rating.
- The recently completed NBA Finals did well for ABC. The six games between the Lakers and Celtics finished as the six most watched television programs for the month of June so far*, and Games 5 and 6 were two of the ten highest rated non-NFL sporting events since June of last year. Additionally, the 131-92 blowout in Game 6 peaked with a strong 19.8 million viewers from 11:45 to midnight.
- Through Tuesday, ESPN2 is averaging a 0.5 cable rating with 655,000 viewers for the Euro 2008 tournament. The most viewed match, between Sweden and Spain last Saturday, drew over 1 million viewers.
* If one isolates the race portion of The Belmont Stakes on ABC, which drew a 9.0 rating with 14.6 million viewers, the NBA Finals would make up six of the seven most watched programs in June.
