Jimmie Johnson‘s threepeat did not clean up in the ratings on Sunday.
ABC drew a 3.6 overnight rating for the Ford 400, the last race in the Chase for the Cup, on Sunday. The 3.6 rating is off 5% from a 3.8 for the same race last year, and down 16% from a 4.3 for the ’06 race, which aired on NBC.
In 2004, the first year of the Chase for the Cup, the race drew a 5.6/11 overnight.
In prime time (7-8 PM), the race drew 7.4 million viewers and a 2.4/6 rating among adults 18-49, good for second place and third place, respectively, in its timeslot.
Overall, ABC averaged a 3.29 metered market rating for ten NASCAR races, down 5% from a 3.47 overnight for the same ten races in ’07.
