• FOX: The Dallas Cowboys helped FOX to the highest overnight rating on the final Sunday of the NFL regular season. The 14.3 overnight for the Cowboys’ season-ending loss to the Eagles easily defeated the Dolphins/Jets game airing at the same time on CBS. FOX drew a 12.1 overnight rating for its Week 17 doubleheader, 11% higher than the 10.9 CBS averaged.
• CBS: While FOX drew higher ratings for its NFL coverage, CBS benefited the most in prime time. Through Cowboys/Eagles on FOX beat Jets/Dolphins by 47%, prime time overrun for the Dolphins’ victory averaged 18.6 million viewers from 7-7:30 PM Sunday night — compared to only 9.7 million for the end of the Cowboys’ blowout loss.
• NBC: The Chargers’ blowout win over the Broncos drew a 10.6 overnight rating on NBC Sunday night, off 8% from an 11.6 for Titans/Colts on comparable date a year ago.
