The most prominent rivalry in college basketball gave CBS a boost in the ratings on Sunday.
North Carolina’s win over Duke drew a 3.4/7 overnight rating on CBS Sunday, up 183% from a 1.2/2 for last year’s comparable Purdue/Michigan game. Compared to the last Duke/North Carolina game to air on CBS, the 3.4/7 rating is up 13%.
The 3.4 overnight is the best for a regular season college basketball game on CBS since 2005, when another Duke/North Carolina tilt drew a 3.9.
Duke/North Carolina finished with the second-highest overnight of the weekend for a sporting event on broadcast, behind NASCAR on FOX (4.7) and well ahead of the NBA on ABC (2.0) and NHL on NBC (1.0).
