Tiger Woods may have returned from injury, but the PGA’s broadcast partners still had to deal with his absence for at least one more week.
The final round of the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship, won by Geoff Ogilvy, drew a 2.0 overnight rating on NBC Sunday, down 43% from a 3.5 for last year’s event, won by Tiger Woods. Woods was knocked out in the second round this year.
The 2.0 overnight is the lowest for the final round of the Accenture Match Play Championship since 2002.
Saturday coverage drew a 1.7, off 47% from a 3.2 in ’08. Overall, NBC averaged a 1.9 for its two-day coverage of the Accenture Match Play Championship, down 44% from a 3.4 in ’08.
