The defending champion Steelers will get as many Monday Night Football appearances as the Texans, Browns and Raiders.
The 2009 Monday Night Football schedule features appearances from 25 of the 32 NFL teams, and only one appearance each by the Steelers, Cardinals, Giants and Cowboys.
ESPN’s MNF schedule kicks off with a Bills/Patriots and Chargers/Raiders doubleheader on September 14. Somewhat surprisingly, that marks the lone appearance of the season for the Terrell Owens‘ Bills. Following weeks feature two trips to Miami and New Orleans, respectively, and appearances by the Texans and Browns for the second straight season.
ESPN will air the Cowboys’ second home game at their new stadium, a Week 3 matchup against the Panthers. The Super Bowl champion Steelers will make their lone appearance in Week 9, on the road against the Broncos. The runner-up Cardinals will make their only MNF appearance in Week 14 against the 49ers, and the Giants will make their first and last Monday night appearance in Week 15 at Washington.
Eight teams — the Packers, Patriots, Dolphins, Saints, Ravens, Chargers, Vikings and Washington — will make two Monday night appearances.
