FOX drew its highest NASCAR ratings since March, but saw yet another double-digit decline in ratings.
The Aaron’s 499 drew a 5.0/12 final rating on FOX Sunday afternoon, down 12% from last year’s 5.7/14, and the lowest rating for the race since at least 1998, excluding the rained-out ’06 race.
Since drawing a 7.6/18 in 2005, ratings for the Aaron’s 499 have declined 36%.
So far this season, every single NASCAR telecast on FOX has seen declining ratings, with the last six races seeing double-digit declines. Through Sunday, FOX is averaging a 5.5 rating for NASCAR coverage, down 11% from a 6.2 last year.
Despite the lower number, the Aaron’s 499 was easily the highest rated sporting event on broadcast last week.
