Through the first round, ratings for the Stanley Cup Playoffs are flat from last year.
Four Stanley Cup Playoff games averaged a 0.9 rating on NBC through last Sunday, even with ’08 and ’07.
Last weekend, two Game 6s averaged a 0.9, down 10% from a 1.0 for two comparable games last year. In particular, Saturday’s Game 6 between the Penguins and Flyers drew a 1.0, up 11% from a 0.9 for Flyers/Capitals Game 5 last year. Meanwhile, Sunday’s Game 6 between the Rangers and Capitals drew a measly 0.7, off 30% from a 1.0 for Red Wings/Predators Game 6 in ’08.
Surprisingly, the matchup pitting Capitals star Alex Ovechkin against the team from the nation’s #1 market averaged a mere 0.7 for two games on NBC, down 22% from a 0.9 for two comparable Red Wings/Predators matchups in ’08.
