Recent television ratings provide insight into the Boston sports hierarchy.
The Celtics, Bruins and Red Sox each played on Sunday and Tuesday night, with the two most recent champions in the city of Boston trading spots atop the ratings leaderboard.
On Sunday night, a regular season Red Sox/Rays game drew a 10.8 rating on ESPN in Boston, topping a 10.0 for Celtics/Magic Game 4 on TNT, and easily beating a 6.7 for Bruins/Hurricanes Game 5 on Versus.
The tables were turned on Tuesday night. Magic/Celtics Game 5 on TNT led the ratings race with a 12.2 rating in Boston, comfortably ahead of a near-record 10.2 for Bruins/Hurricanes Game 6 on NESN. Bringing up the rear was Red Sox/Angels, which drew a 5.5 in a late 10 PM timeslot on NESN and NESN Plus.
