- Through 37 telecasts, Versus is averaging 584,000 viewers for the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs, up 27% from last year. Compared to the comparable point in 2004, the last year ESPN/ESPN2 aired games, Versus is down 22% from the 748,000 viewers for games on ESPN, but up 19% from 492,000 viewers for games on ESPN2. So far, three telecasts have drawn over 1 million viewers — Penguins/Capitals Games 2 and 3, and Red Wings/Ducks Game 4.
- The Red Wings continue to put up strong numbers in Detroit. The Wings’ Game 6 loss to the Ducks, which began at 10 PM local time, drew a 13.5 rating on FS Detroit on Tuesday night, making it the fifth-highest rated sporting event ever on the net. The five highest rated sporting events on FS Detroit are all Red Wings games, with two of the five coming this year.
- Ratings for the Texas Rangers are up almost 100% from last year. So far this season, 21 Rangers telecasts on FS Southwest are averaging a 2.16 rating, up a whopping 98% from a 1.09 through the same point last year. The 98% increase is the best for any Major League Baseball team. Meanwhile, 10 Rangers games on KDFI have averaged a 2.4 rating, up 32%.
Netflix officially announces expanded NFL deal
The NFL has officially reached a new deal with Netflix that will see the streamer bookend the season.
