Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals was the top attraction on broadcast Saturday night.
Penguins/Red Wings Game 1 averaged 4.5 million viewers and drew a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49 in prime time Saturday night, helping NBC to the top spot among all broadcast networks in both categories.
In total viewers, NBC beat second-place CBS by 2%. The advantage was greater among adults 18-49, as NBC beat second-place FOX by 42%.
While Penguins/Red Wings Game 1 helped NBC defeat its broadcast competition, Cavaliers/Magic Game 6 will likely finish as the top television program of Saturday night. Orlando’s clinching victory drew 8.3 million viewers on TNT, according to Nielsen Fast-Nationals.
