NBC has seen a double-digit rise in ratings for its coverage of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs saw big increases on NBC last weekend. Saturday’s Penguins/Capitals Game 1 drew a 1.2/3 final rating, up 71% from a 0.7/2 for Avalanche/Red Wings Game 2 in a later timeslot last year, and up 50% from a 0.8/2 for Sharks/Red Wings Game 2 in ’07.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s triple-overtime Ducks/Red Wings tilt drew a 1.3/3 final rating, up 30% from Rangers/Penguins Game 2 in ’08 and Sabres/Rangers Game 3 in ’07.
Through six games, NBC is averaging a 1.0 rating for coverage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, up 11% from a 0.9 through six games last year, and NBC’s highest average rating through six Stanley Cup Playoff games since 2006.
