A year after leading the network to huge ratings during the ’08 Olympics, Michael Phelps‘ return to NBC drew less spectacular numbers.
Coverage of the FINA Swimming World Championships drew a 1.1/3 overnight rating on NBC Sunday. While the 1.1 overnight is far from impressive, it was tied as the highest overnight of the weekend for a sporting event on broadcast (excluding events on FOX).
The Swimming World Championships topped the Tour de France on CBS (0.6), WNBA All-Star Game on ABC (0.5), and the final round of the PGA Canadian Open on CBS (0.8).
