- Lance Armstrong has given the Tour de France a major boost in the ratings. Through nine days, live viewership of the 2009 Tour de France on Versus is up 83% from last year. Compared to 2005, the last time Armstrong participated in the event, live viewership is up 18%.
- The inaugural Honda Indy Toronto, ABC’s final IRL telecast of the season, drew a 1.0 overnight rating on Sunday afternoon. The 1.0 is the highest overnight for an IRL race since the Indianapolis 500. Overall, ABC averaged a 1.5 overnight rating for 5 IRL telecasts.
- NBC’s coverage of the U.S. Swimming National Championships drew overnight ratings of 0.9/3 and 0.6/2 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Swimming coverage finished behind the aformentioned IRL race on ABC as well as the U.S. Women’s Open on NBC and the PGA John Deere Classic on CBS.
