Swimming coverage topped every other sporting event on broadcast for the weekend, excluding MLB on FOX and coverage of the Buick Open on CBS. Overall, NBC averaged a 0.8 rating for five swimming telecasts in ’09.
- Final round coverage of the Women’s British Open drew a 0.8/2 final rating and 997,000 viewers on ABC last Sunday, up 33% in ratings and 27% in viewership from a 0.6/2 and 787,000 viewers last year.
- The X Games was less of a draw for ABC last weekend. Saturday coverage drew a 0.9/2 rating and 1.2 million viewers, down 10% and 21%, respectively, from a 1.0/3 and 1.6 million last year. Meanwhile, coverage on Sunday drew a 0.9/2 and 1.4 million viewers, off 18% and 22%, respectively, from a 1.1/3 and 1.8 million viewers last year.
