Last year’s stellar ratings have led to a second straight week of big declines for ABC’s Saturday Night Football.
Regional college football action featuring Connecticut/Cincinnati drew a 4.0 overnight rating on ABC Saturday, down a massive 51% from an 8.2 for Texas/Texas Tech last year, and down 13% from a 4.6 for USC/Oregon or Texas/Oklahoma State last week.
The 4.0 overnight is tied as the third-lowest of the season for Saturday Night Football.
While ratings were down big in primetime, regional action earlier in the day saw a double-digit increase. Afternoon coverage featuring Ohio St./Penn St. drew a 3.8 overnight, up 36% from a 2.8 for comparable coverage last year.
Compared to other college football action on Saturday afternoon, Ohio St./Penn St. topped Navy/Notre Dame on NBC (2.3), but fell behind LSU/Alabama on CBS (4.4).
