The penultimate race of the NASCAR season was not much of a draw on ABC.
ABC drew a mere 2.8 overnight rating for Sunday’s Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500, down 18% from a 3.4 for last year’s race, and down 10% from a 3.1 for last week’s Dickies 500.
The 2.8 overnight is easily the lowest for the Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 since the race moved to broadcast in ’01. Overnight ratings for the race have dropped 35% since ’04 (4.3 to 2.8).
Additionally, this marks the 5th time in the last 9 races that NASCAR has failed to draw at least a 3.0 overnight rating.
