Major League Baseball will open its ’10 campaign with its highest-profile matchup.
The 2010 MLB season will begin on April 4, 2010, with the defending champion Yankees taking on the Red Sox from Fenway Park. The game will air on ESPN2 nationally, as well as regional sports networks NESN and YES Network.
This will be the first time since ’05 that the Yankees and Red Sox have played each other on MLB Opening Night.
Last year’s Braves/Nationals Opening Night game drew a 2.1 U.S. rating. The ’05 Red Sox/Yankees opener drew a 2.2.
During the 2009 regular season, ESPN aired three Sunday night Yankees/Red Sox games, with all three games drawing a 3.0 U.S. rating — making the games the three highest rated regular season telecasts of the season.
