Tom Brookshier, who called three Super Bowls as an NFL analyst for CBS, has died after battling cancer. He was 78.
Brookshier spent over two decades with CBS, and was the network’s lead NFL analyst from 1975-81. During his tenure, Brookshier called Super Bowls X, XII and XIV alongside Pat Summerall, and served as a sideline reporter for Super Bowl VIII.
Prior to his broadcasting career, Brookshier played for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Former CBS Sports personality Pat O’Brien spoke to Eye on Sports Media about Brookshier’s passing.
I was blessed to have worked with Tom and Pat Summerall in my early days at CBS. To say the least, Brookie lived life to its fullest and along the way, entertained all of us and every football fan. He loved his work … loved football … and loved being Tom Brookshier.
