The Blackhawks are setting ratings records so often that it has become almost routine.
Opposite the BCS National Championship Game, Thursday night’s Blackhawks/Bruins game drew a 3.43 rating on Comcast SportsNet Chicago — the highest rating ever for a regular season Blackhawks game on the network.
The 3.43 tops the previous record of 3.27 set by Blackhawks/Red Wings in late December.
This is the fourth time this season that the Blackhawks have set a ratings record on CSN Chicago. The first record was set by Oilers/Blackhawks in October (2.70), followed by Rangers/Blackhawks in December (3.03), and the aforementioned Blackhawks/Red Wings game later that month (3.27).
So far this season, Blackhawks games are averaging a 2.09 rating on CSN Chicago, up 99% from last year. The network’s pregame and postgame shows are up 146% and 192%, respectively.
