The hottest team in the NHL is lighting up the scoreboards — and the ratings.
For the second time in a month, the Capitals set a ratings record on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic. Friday’s Thrashers/Capitals game drew a strong 4.4 rating on CSN Mid-Atlantic, the highest rating ever for a Capitals telecast on the network.
Friday’s game easily topped the previous record of 3.3, set by a much higher-profile Penguins/Capitals match up on January 21.
In the last month, CSN Mid-Atlantic has drawn four of its five highest Capitals ratings ever.
The high ratings continued on NBC Sunday. The network’s Penguins/Capitals telecast drew a 5.3 rating in the Washington market, up 179% from a 1.9 for the Capitals’ lone NBC appearance last year (also against the Penguins).
The 5.3 also matched the rating for Game 1 of last year’s Capitals/Penguins playoff series on NBC.
