Bill Walton is making his return to broadcasting, at least for the Final Four.
The loquacious former ESPN/ABC NBA analyst, who last year announced his retirement from broadcasting due to health issues, will serve as a pregame, halftime and postgame analyst for Westwood One’s coverage of the Final Four.
This will be Walton’s first Final Four with Westwood One.
As recently as 2008, Walton was one of the lead studio analysts for the NBA on ESPN and ABC. However, back problems sidelined him for much of the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons. Days into the 2009-10 season, he announced that he would retire from broadcasting.
The Final Four will be Walton’s first broadcasting assignment since he announced his retirement.
