Ratings for the Arnold Palmer Invitational were already guaranteed to plunge thanks to Tiger Woods‘ absence. The rain only exacerbated matters.
Sunday’s final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational drew a 1.5 final rating on NBC, down 66% from last year (4.4) and down 57% from 2008 (3.5). Woods won the event in both years.
Keep in mind that the final round was suspended due to rain. The event concluded on Monday.
The 1.5 rating is the lowest for final round coverage of the event since at least ’98. For perspective, final round coverage drew a 5.5 rating as recently as 2001.
Third round action Saturday drew a 1.3 final rating, down 48% from last year (2.5), and down 35% from ’08 (2.0).
The 1.3 is the lowest for third round coverage since at least ’98.
