If the overnights are any indication, Game 5 between the Celtics and Magic will be the latest game of the Conference Finals to have a decline from last year.
Wednesday’s Celtics/Magic Game 5 drew a 5.5 overnight rating on ESPN, down 11% from Monday’s Game 4 (6.2), but up 25% from Saturday’s Game 3 (4.4).
Overnight ratings for last year’s comparable Nuggets/Lakers Game 5 were not immediately available, but that game drew a 5.6 final rating. In 2008, Pistons/Celtics Game 5 drew a 4.3 final rating.
So far in the Conference Finals, the final rating has dropped between 16% and 21% from the overnight — putting Game 5 on pace for a final rating in the 4.4-4.6 range.
