Fewer viewers tuned into this year’s edition of NASCAR’s All-Star Race.
The 2010 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race drew a 2.3 U.S. rating and 3.8 million viewers on Speed Channel Saturday night, down 4% in ratings and 9% in viewership from last year (2.4, 4.2 mil) and down 8% and 9%, respectively, from ’08 (2.5, 4.2 mil).
Excluding rain-delayed races, the 2.3 rating is the second-lowest for the All-Star Race since at least 2000.
During the race, Speed Channel “reached the most households of any basic cable network” among men 35-54 and 55 or older. Keep in mind that ESPN aired Game 3 of the Magic/Celtics Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday night.
That said, the All-Star Race finished well behind Magic/Celtics overall (3.7, 6.0 mil) and also lagged behind regional MLB action on FOX (2.7, 4.3 mil).
Also last weekend, the NASCAR Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony drew a 0.6 U.S. rating on Speed Channel.
UPDATE 5/29/10: The All-Star Race drew a 2.3 U.S. rating, not the 2.2 that was previously reported here. That was based on the race drawing 2,496,000 households, the number that was reported by the Scene Daily article. In fact, the race drew 2,630,000 households.
