The second weekend of the World Cup was not as big of a hit for ABC as the first, but the numbers were still solid.
ABC drew a 3.2 overnight rating for Brazil/Ivory Coast Sunday afternoon, up 7% from France/South Korea in a similar timeslot on the comparable date in 2006 (3.0). ABC also aired Brazil/Australia on the comparable date in 2006, drawing a 3.9 overnight from 11:30 AM-2:00 PM.
Compared to Germany/Australia in the same timeslot last week, Sunday’s match is down 9%.
On Saturday, Cameroon/Denmark drew a 2.6 overnight. The comparable match in 2006 involved the United States (5.2, USA/Italy), as did the comparable match last week (9.0, USA/England).
The 2.6 is the lowest overnight of the World Cup so far on ABC (four matches).
