Ratings and viewership increased for the second round of the U.S. Open on ESPN.
ESPN drew a 1.6 U.S. rating and 2.2 million viewers for second round coverage of the 2010 U.S. Open on Friday evening, up 14% in ratings and viewership from last year (1.4, 1.9 mil), but down 27% and 29%, respectively, from 2008 (2.2, 3.1 mil).
Earlier in the day, additional second round coverage drew 1.8 million viewers, virtually even compared to last year’s coverage, which included three more hours of coverage (1.849 mil to 1.781 mil).
Compared to 2008, Friday’s early window was up 18%.
Over on NBC, second round coverage drew a 2.0 overnight rating on Friday afternoon. Overnight ratings for last year’s comparable window were not immediately available.
