The first MLS match since the World Cup for Team USA hero Landon Donovan hit a season-high in viewership for ESPN2.
Sunday’s Sounders/Galaxy MLS match on ESPN2 drew a 0.2 U.S. rating and 391,000 viewers, up 87% in viewership from United/Crew on July 4 last year (209,000 viewers).
This marks the most-viewed MLS telecast of the season on ESPN2. To put the numbers in perspective, last year’s ESPN2 season-high was 550,000 viewers for a United/Sounders match on June 17.
ESPN2 added Sounders/Galaxy to its schedule, citing “the excitement surrounding” the ongoing 2010 FIFA World Cup.
