For the first time in three weeks, regular season baseball on FOX failed to attract at least 2% of U.S. television households.
Regional MLB action featuring Cubs/Cardinals drew a 1.7 final rating and 2.583 million viewers on FOX, up a tick in ratings and 4% in viewership from coverage featuring Phillies/Braves last year (1.6, 2.474 mil) and up 55% in ratings from coverage opposite the Olympics in 2008 (1.1, viewership unavailable).
This marks the first time since July 24 that FOX has drawn less than a 2.0 rating for Major League Baseball coverage.
For the season, 12 of the 19 MLB telecasts on FOX have drawn less than a 2.0. That is actually an improvement from last year, when 13 of the first 19 telecasts held that distinction.
Additionally, this is the ninth time this season that ratings have improved for MLB on FOX, compared to just seven such occurrences through the same point last year.
