Recent sports TV ratings news, including the IndyCar Series on Versus, MLB Network’s most-viewed week ever and record ratings for the Rangers in Dallas-Ft. Worth.
- Sunday’s IndyCar Honda Indy 200 drew 344,000 viewers on Versus, up 27% from the same race on the same weekend last year (271,000). So far this season, Versus is averaging 402,000 viewers for IndyCar coverage, up 24% from the same point last year (324,000). Versus and ABC have combined to average 1.386 million viewers, virtually even with last year (1.381 mil). (Sports Business Daily)
- MLB Network averaged 220,000 viewers in primetime during the week of July 31-August 6, marking the network’s most-viewed week ever. The network’s telecasts of Giants/Braves last Thursday (503,000 viewers) and Red Sox/Yankees last Friday (396,000) rank as the second and third most-viewed telecasts ever on the network, respectively. - Tuesday’s Yankees/Rangers game drew an 8.0 rating on Fox Sports Southwest in Dallas-Ft. Worth, the highest rating ever for a local Rangers telecast in the market. The 8.0 tops the previous record of 6.9 for Angels/Rangers in ’98. Since the All-Star Break, Rangers telecasts have averaged a 5.4 rating on FS Southwest, up 108% from the first half of the season (2.6). (Dallas Morning News)
